Bible Scriptures for This Lesson

John 3: 1-18 3:1
Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicode'mus, a ruler of the Jews. 3:2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, "Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that you do, unless God is with him." 3:3 Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God." 3:4 Nicode'mus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" 3:5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 3:7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born anew.' 3:8 The wind blows where it wills, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know whence it comes or whither it goes; so it is with every one who is born of the Spirit." 3:9 Nicode'mus said to him, "How can this be?" 3:10 Jesus answered him, "Are you a teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand this? 3:11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen; but you do not receive our testimony. 3:12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 3:13 No one has ascended into heaven but he who descended from heaven, the Son of man. 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, 3:15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life." 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 3:17 For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. 3:18 He who believes in him is not condemned; he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Ephesians 2:8-10
1 And you he made alive, when you were dead through the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience. 3 Among these we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of body and mind, and so we were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with him, and made us sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God-- 9 not because of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Romans 10:9-13
because, if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10:10 For man believes with his heart and so is justified, and he confesses with his lips and so is saved. 10:11 The scripture says, "No one who believes in him will be put to shame." 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all and bestows his riches upon all who call upon him. 10:13 For, "every one who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved."
